In today's world few photographers have an actual studio. Most work from their homes and make what they call environmental photos. That means they usually shoot outdoors without the aid of extra lighting. At BlueMoon we offer both options, you can choose either a location setting or something classic as can only be created in a well equipped studio.
Our studio is located in the Bluff Park part of Hoover, Alabama, in the oldest building in the city, the old Bluff Park Elementary School. We are proud to be affiliated with the group, Artists on the Bluff, an eclectic group of artists who inhabit the old school.
For my entire life people have called me Butch. Not sure why, but it seemed to be a popular nickname in the 1950s, the decade of my birth.
It seems that for as long as I can remember I've had a fascination with photography. My first camera was a Brownie Hawkeye my mother handed down to me in the early 1960s.
Joy, my wife, gave me my first "good" camera for our first anniversary in 1971. Life has not been the same since. Many, many cameras later, I still love just holding my camera and making photos.
Joy, being married to me, couldn't help but becoming a photographer. A camera has been a main part of our lives for as long as we've been married. And that's a long time.
